In a stunning display of grit and skill, Jammu and Kashmir’s cricket team has scripted history by storming into the Ranji Trophy final for the very first time. Defeating a star-studded Bengal side by six wickets in the semifinal, the team from the Union Territory has ignited celebrations across the region.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led the congratulations, praising the squad for etching a golden chapter in J&K’s sporting legacy. ‘Your brilliant performance fills the entire UT with pride. Keep this winning momentum and illuminate J&K’s name,’ he posted on X.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hailed the achievement as a testament to the team’s resolve, discipline, and the burgeoning sports culture in J&K. He specially commended captain Paras Dogra for becoming the second Indian domestic cricketer to amass over 10,000 Ranji runs, and pacer Aquib Nabi for his semifinal heroics, taking 9 wickets to reach 55 for the season.

Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary echoed the sentiments, lauding the team’s patience and fighting spirit that has made the region proud. Former cricketer and ex-coach Irfan Pathan, himself from J&K, couldn’t hold back his joy. ‘History made! J&K in its first Ranji final. Proud of these boys taking J&K cricket to new heights. Abdul Samad, what an innings!’ he tweeted, also tipping his hat to Aquib Nabi’s Player of the Match performances in quarterfinal and semifinal.

As J&K prepares for the final showdown, the entire nation watches with anticipation. This milestone not only boosts cricket in the region but also inspires young talents amid challenging terrains. The team’s journey from underdogs to finalists underscores the power of perseverance, setting the stage for what could be an unforgettable climax to the domestic season.
