In a chilling development in Patna’s Fulwari Sharif area near AIIMS Golambar, police have recreated the tragic fall of a 16-year-old student from the seventh floor of a coaching center rooftop. The incident, which claimed the life of the Class 12 girl on February 12, has sparked intense debate: was it suicide or murder?

On Tuesday, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted a meticulous crime scene recreation using four dummies matching the victim’s weight. City SP West Bhanu Pratap Singh oversaw the exercise, which involved dropping the dummies from various angles under the guidance of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts.

“The goal is to scientifically determine the circumstances,” SP Singh stated. “This will clarify if it was a single impact, multiple injuries, a push, or self-inflicted.” The dummies, precisely calibrated to the girl’s weight, were hurled from the exact spot to mimic potential scenarios.

The need for this reconstruction arose amid conflicting narratives. CCTV footage captured the student ascending stairs to the roof before plummeting. No signs of sexual assault emerged from the AIIMS medical board’s postmortem, yet suspicions lingered over possible foul play.

Police had detained four suspects—a carpenter, guard, and two others—from the Sumitra Heights apartment. Interrogations cleared them initially, but the SIT, comprising 11 officers, continues probing every angle.

As FSL experts analyze the drop patterns, the recreation promises to dispel doubts. SP Singh emphasized its effectiveness in distinguishing accident from homicide. Once reports arrive, targeted questioning will follow, potentially unraveling the mystery behind the girl’s fatal plunge.

Families and locals await closure in this heartbreaking case, which underscores the vulnerabilities faced by students in high-rise coaching facilities.
