US Scores Big Win on Gaza Peace Plan at UN Security Council

In a landmark diplomatic breakthrough, the United States has secured unanimous support for President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace initiative at the United Nations Security Council. US Ambassador Mike Waltz announced the victory, highlighting the 13-0 vote that passed the resolution without dissent.

Speaking on the Salem News Channel with Hugh Hewitt, Waltz described the moment as a pivotal achievement in addressing one of the world’s most contentious conflicts: the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. ‘We got it passed unanimously,’ he declared, framing it as a resounding endorsement from the international community.

The plan outlines a comprehensive framework, including the formation of an international security force to maintain stability in Gaza. It also proposes establishing a Palestinian technocratic authority to govern effectively and creating a special fund under the World Bank to finance reconstruction efforts. Indonesia has already pledged 8,000 troops publicly and announced $5 billion ahead of the first Board of Peace meeting.

Progress is already visible on the ground. Hostages have been released, a ceasefire is holding, and humanitarian aid is flowing into the region. The next phase of talks will zero in on Hamas, with Waltz warning the group to disarm—either peacefully or through tougher measures.

Waltz pointed out a significant shift in alliances. Nations previously aligned with Hamas, such as Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt, are now standing with the US and Israel in support of this initiative. This realignment underscores the growing momentum behind the peace effort.

Turning to Iran, Waltz reaffirmed that UN snapback sanctions remain fully operational, despite objections from Russia and partial pushback from China. He cautioned that any country engaging in trade with the Iranian regime risks violating these measures.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, he noted, controls 40 to 50 percent of Iran’s economy, making sanctions a direct hit on the regime’s finances. On Iran’s so-called ‘ghost fleet,’ Waltz advocated aggressive enforcement, including ship seizures under UN mandates, coordinated through bodies like the International Maritime Organization.

Recent unrest in Iran has seen 18 deaths, which Waltz labeled as widespread repression by the regime against its own people. He referenced data presented at a UN session attended by prominent Iranian dissident Masih Alinejad.

Ultimately, Waltz outlined clear ultimatums for Iran: abandon uranium enrichment, long-range ballistic missiles, and support for terror networks. The US has drawn a firm line, signaling a tougher stance ahead.
