In a thrilling encounter at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Scotland posted a challenging total of 171 for 7 against Nepal in the 33rd match of the T20 World Cup 2026. Both teams, languishing in Group C and already out of title contention, aimed to end their campaign on a high note with a victory.

Nepal’s campaign has been dismal, starting with a narrow 4-run loss to England, followed by a humiliating 10-wicket defeat to Italy and a 9-wicket thrashing by West Indies. They sit dead last in the Group C points table.

Scotland, positioned third in the group, had mixed results: a 35-run loss to West Indies, a dominant 73-run win over Italy, and a close 5-wicket defeat against England.

Nepal captain Rohit Paudel won the toss and elected to field first. Scotland openers George Munsey and Michael Jones provided a fiery start, racing to 80 runs in the first 10 overs.

Munsey fell for 27 off 29 balls, including four boundaries, but Jones combined with Brandon McMullen (25) for a crucial 52-run stand off 32 balls, pushing the score to 132. Jones then unleashed havoc, smashing 71 off 45 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes before returning to the pavilion.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals thereafter, Scotland managed to reach 170/7. Key contributions came from the top order, setting a steep target for Nepal.

Scotland’s Playing XI: George Munsey, Michael Jones, Brandon McMullen, Richie Berrington (c), Tom Bruce, Michael Leask, Matthew Cross (wk), Mark Watt, Oliver Davidson, Brad Wheel, Brad Currie.

Nepal’s Playing XI: Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh (wk), Rohit Paudel (c), Dipendra Singh Airee, Arif Sheikh, Lokesh Bam, Sandeep Jora, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane.

As Nepal prepares to chase, the pressure is on their batting lineup to deliver under the lights at Wankhede.
