Mumbai’s film industry is reeling from a major safety scandal on the set of ‘Dhurandhar 2′. The All India Cine Workers Association has issued a scathing condemnation of the grave violations that occurred during production. They have thrown their full support behind the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) decisive action against director Aditya Dhar and his production house, B62 Studios.

The association is demanding ironclad enforcement of safety protocols across the industry. No more playing with workers’ lives, they say. Lives have been lost and careers shattered due to reckless disregard for basic standards, and it’s time for strict legal repercussions.

Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, president of the association, minced no words. ‘The lives, safety, and dignity of film workers, technicians, and laborers cannot be compromised under any circumstances. No production house is above the law,’ he declared. He called for routine inspections on every shooting location and severe penalties for negligence.

The association stands firmly with the workers and vows not to rest until stringent safety measures are universally adopted. On the ‘Dhurandhar 2’ set, violations included using burning torches in high-security zones, unauthorized location changes, and illegal use of gas and generator vans. These aren’t isolated incidents.

For years, production houses have flouted rules on permissions, fire safety, and structural integrity. Tragic accidents in Goregaon Film City and other studios—fires, electric shocks, falls—have claimed lives and left many maimed. Despite repeated letters to the Chief Minister and BMC Commissioner urging regular checks and immediate action, lapses persist.

With hundreds of shoots daily in Mumbai, most productions ignore essential safeguards. The BMC’s recommendation to blacklist B62 Studios and impose fines is hailed as a vital step. This should serve as a stark warning to others, pushing the industry toward accountability and protecting those who make the magic happen.
