Patna witnessed a significant political shift on Tuesday as Jitendra Nath Thakur, national vice-president of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLN), joined the Congress party alongside his son Rahul Kumar and supporters, including RJD leader Neelam Parveen. The event unfolded at the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee office during a grand welcome ceremony.
Provincial Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru and state president Rajesh Ram formally inducted the new members. Allavaru launched a scathing attack on the central government, alleging that national secrets and assets are being handed over to American interests. From IT sectors to agriculture, he claimed the ruling party is hollowing out India’s sovereignty while deceiving the public.
‘Youth, farmers, and every section of society is distressed under current policies,’ Allavaru stated. ‘People are turning to Congress with hope. These new leaders will bolster our fight for social justice.’
Rajesh Ram highlighted the state government’s failures, particularly towards women burdened by microfinance loans. He criticized the handling of the NEET student family’s justice quest, pointing to police threats allegedly linked to BJP. ‘How can BJP deliver justice when its own forces intimidate victims?’ he questioned.
Ram also slammed the government’s silence on rural and urban women’s plight from predatory lending. He contrasted Congress’s MGNREGA scheme, now undermined, with the BJP’s token five-kg ration handouts masquerading as empowerment. Welcoming the newcomers, he vowed to strengthen the social justice agenda.
New joiner Jitendra Nath Thakur praised Rahul Gandhi as the lone leader boldly challenging the regime for national betterment. ‘Congress can deploy me anywhere; I’ll fulfill my duties,’ he affirmed. This influx signals growing momentum for Congress in Bihar’s polarized politics.
