New Delhi, February 17: BJP MP Dinesh Sharma launched a scathing attack on the opposition, particularly Congress-led groups, accusing them of acting as the biggest speed breaker in India’s development journey. Speaking exclusively to IANS amid the AI Summit protests, Sharma asserted that the opposition cannot tolerate India’s rising global stature.

“When India starts walking as a global hero, the opposition questions why it should,” Sharma remarked. He criticized their constant obstruction, saying they prioritize headlines in Pakistan and China over India’s achievement as the world’s fourth-largest economy. While the government pushes to double farmers’ incomes, the opposition incites unrest, derailing progress.

Sharma highlighted internal Congress contradictions, referencing Mani Shankar Aiyar’s recent statements alongside those from Shashi Tharoor and Digvijay Singh. “A party riddled with policy disagreements won’t last long,” he warned, contrasting it with PM Modi’s inclusive ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ model that eradicates casteism.

Defending Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s comments, Sharma noted they stayed within constitutional bounds. He accused Congress and Mamata Banerjee of competing in appeasement politics, while BJP ensures equitable ration distribution without discrimination. “We treat Hindus and Muslims equally, focusing on justice over vote-bank tactics,” he emphasized.

As India surges ahead under strong leadership, Sharma urged the opposition to support national growth instead of fostering division. The government’s commitment to education and welfare for all stands in stark contrast to opposition’s divisive strategies.
