Mumbai’s vibrant energy has captivated yet another world leader. French President Emmanuel Macron, on a three-day visit to India, couldn’t stop praising the city during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sharing a warm photo on X, PM Modi revealed how his ‘friend’ Macron expressed his delight with Mumbai.
‘Great to meet my friend, President Macron in Mumbai! He told me he loves this city and enjoyed his morning jog today!’ PM Modi posted alongside the image. Macron arrived in the economic capital early Tuesday with First Lady Brigitte Macron. Barely settling in, he was spotted jogging along the iconic Marine Drive in blue shorts and a T-shirt, showcasing his commitment to fitness.
Flanked by his security detail and Indian officials, with Mumbai police securing the stretch, Macron’s casual outing highlighted his down-to-earth style. Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed him at the airport. Later, the French couple paid tribute to the 26/11 terror attack victims at the Taj Hotel.
Macron also mingled with Bollywood luminaries including Manoj Bajpayee, Anil Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Zoya Akhtar, and Richa Chadha. The day culminates with PM Modi and President Macron inaugurating India-France Innovation Year 2026. They will address industrialists, startup founders, researchers, and innovation experts.
During the trip, Macron will attend the AI Impact Summit in Delhi. This marks his fourth visit to India and first official stop in Mumbai. Previous trips included March 2018, the G20 Summit in September 2023, and Republic Day 2024 as chief guest. The strategic partnership since 1998 thrives in defense, technology, space, and energy, with this visit poised to deepen ties.
