New Delhi is buzzing as the India AI-Impact Summit kicked off on February 16, drawing leaders from across the globe. The event has sparked enthusiastic responses from business leaders, tech experts, and policymakers, highlighting AI’s transformative potential and challenges.

Gabriel Sanchez Jinni, Chief of Staff from Buenos Aires, emphasized AI’s dual-edged impact. ‘We’re all grappling with artificial intelligence’s challenges,’ he said. ‘This powerful technology promises immense societal benefits but also poses risks to jobs and education systems.’ Jinni expressed excitement about the summit’s scale, with speakers and thousands of participants from around the world.

Argentina’s Ambassador to India, Mariano Cosino, hailed the summit as a major achievement for India. ‘It’s a huge opportunity, and we congratulate India for hosting it with the field’s most important figures,’ he stated. He noted delegations from Argentine states attending to learn, underscoring India’s success in organizing such a prestigious event.

Cosino discussed Argentina’s push to modernize its economy, viewing AI as key to the new world order while stressing the need to balance positives with concerns. On India-Argentina ties, he pointed to strong economic relations—India being Argentina’s sixth-largest partner—and anticipated growth in multiple sectors, especially private enterprise, post-summit.

Emanuel Garcia, Argentina’s Secretary of Modern Science, focused on collaborative opportunities. ‘This summit isn’t just about AI as technology but using it responsibly,’ he said. He praised India’s approach to integrating AI into engineering and tech sectors, suggesting Argentina could learn from it to revamp education and workforce programs.

Garcia highlighted untapped potential in Argentina’s production sectors. ‘We’re at the cusp of AI adoption, which could massively boost productivity across industries,’ he added, urging new ideas from the summit to be implemented back home.

Pasi Toivanen, Co-Chair and Head of Edge Cloud Platforms at Nokia, lauded India’s energy and innovation. With over 20 years of visits, he sees immense potential in linking private and public sectors for global innovation. He congratulated India for hosting the first AI summit in the Global South and noted synergies with Norway, including a recent trade agreement where AI will play a starring role.

Toivanen cited maritime industries as a prime area for collaboration, predicting bilateral trade between India and Norway could triple in the next decade after doubling in the past ten years. The summit underscores India’s rising stature in AI governance and innovation.
