New Delhi witnessed the second day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, a landmark event buzzing with innovation and forward-thinking discussions. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, in an exclusive conversation, emphasized the government’s commitment to equipping the nation’s youth with AI-enabled education. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, this summit has ignited unprecedented enthusiasm among students, educators, and experts who have gathered in large numbers.
The minister highlighted the summit’s dual focus: AI in Education and Education in AI. From harnessing India’s rich traditional knowledge systems to integrating global insights, AI will empower both students and teachers like never before. School and college management systems are set for a major overhaul, promising greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Pradhan asserted that raising AI awareness will propel India towards global leadership. This summit marks a pivotal step in that journey. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Skill Development and Education, Jayant Chaudhary, stressed the profound impact AI will have on education. He called for capacity building among teachers and a complete redesign of educational frameworks.
In a key initiative, IIT Madras has been designated as the Center of Excellence for AI and Education. This center will meticulously study AI’s effects on learning, assess national preparedness, and recommend future reforms. IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti elaborated on how AI can revolutionize education across four critical levels.
First, students can freely query AI tools for instant, clear answers, enhancing conceptual understanding without hesitation. Second, AI will help parents identify their children’s talents in areas like music, sports, photography, or art, guiding skill development and career paths. Third, teachers gain insights into student weaknesses, tailoring training for superior teaching quality. Fourth, policymakers can analyze education at village, district, and state levels to craft smarter policies.
