New Delhi is stepping up its game in transforming education through artificial intelligence. The Ministry of Education has rolled out a comprehensive framework to integrate AI across school, higher, and technical education levels. This initiative comes after extensive consultations with educators, industry leaders, and innovative startups.
The latest push was highlighted during a key session at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam. Titled ‘Ministry of Education: Pushing the Frontier of AI in India,’ the discussion drew top experts who explored how policies, technologies, and institutions can revolutionize learning on a massive scale.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, addressing the gathering, credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for accelerating AI adoption nationwide. ‘The world now sees India as a frontrunner in embracing AI,’ he stated. Pradhan emphasized AI’s potential to position India as a global knowledge superpower, aligning perfectly with the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal.
Focusing on the youth, Pradhan noted, ‘AI in education and education in AI are interconnected.’ He urged the younger generation to master AI not just for consumption but for innovation, enabling them to lead groundbreaking initiatives and elevate India’s global standing.
Minister of State for Education and Skill Development Jayant Chaudhary echoed these sentiments, praising the summit’s productive deliberations. Discussions covered AI integration from foundational learning to skill development, research, and global leadership. Chaudhary also toured pavilions showcasing homegrown AI solutions already making an impact.
Over the past decade, the ministry has laid strong foundations through digital platforms, policy reforms, institutional upgrades, and capacity-building drives. A recent highlight is the Centre of Excellence for AI in Education at IIT Madras, established post-budget announcements.
Recent events like the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026 underscored responsible AI use. The clear message from the ministry: it’s time to move beyond planning to large-scale implementation. By uniting government, industry, and academia, India aims to fortify its education system for a future-ready workforce, turning the dream of a developed nation by 2047 into reality.
