Bhubaneswar’s police force has ramped up preparations for the Odisha Assembly’s budget session kicking off Tuesday. In a comprehensive security rehearsal, authorities simulated potential threats to fine-tune their response mechanisms. The full-scale mock drill aimed to scrutinize every layer of protection, ensuring seamless coordination among teams.
Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh emphasized that this exercise was crucial for flawless security during the session. A three-tier system was activated: armed personnel, unarmed guards, and plainclothes officers deployed across key zones. From assembly entrances to the main hall and surrounding sensitive areas, no spot was left unchecked.
The drill tested real-time communication, rapid response protocols, and overall operational efficiency. Seven core teams, led by around 30 senior and junior officers, participated actively. Intelligence inputs were reviewed, with extra vigilance ordered at vulnerable points.
Special measures are in place for the Governor’s traditional address at the session’s start. The entire premises will operate under high alert, with rigorous entry checks mandatory. Commissioner Singh assured that these robust arrangements would guarantee a peaceful and secure budget session.
Meanwhile, opposition parties like Congress and BJD are gearing up to grill the government on critical issues, including chaos in paddy procurement. Congress legislators held a strategy meeting in the assembly complex, plotting their moves to hold the administration accountable on public concerns.
