New Delhi witnessed a landmark event on Monday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. This gathering brings together global tech experts, startup leaders, and policymakers to explore artificial intelligence’s transformative potential in health, education, and governance.
BJP MP Sambit Patra highlighted the summit’s significance in an exclusive interview. ‘This platform will supercharge innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and development across India,’ he stated. With chief ministers from various states in attendance, Patra emphasized India’s bold strides toward becoming a global AI hub.
The event aligns seamlessly with ‘Make in India’ and ‘AI for All’ visions, fostering discussions on policy, legislation, and practical AI applications. Patra noted that these initiatives will empower future generations to drive national development through cutting-edge AI platforms.
Shifting gears, Patra addressed the recent India-US trade deal, calling it a mixed bag of benefits and concerns. ‘Tariffs have been reduced, offering relief especially to MSMEs battered by high duties,’ he said. India has already sealed deals with the UK and EU, and this agreement builds on that momentum. However, agriculture remains a sensitive area, warranting caution until full details emerge.
On West Bengal’s voter list controversies, Patra slammed lapses by seven officials suspended by the Election Commission. ‘Ensuring eligible voters aren’t disenfranchised is paramount for democracy,’ he asserted. He urged heightened vigilance at the BLO level to resolve public grievances swiftly.
As India positions itself as an AI powerhouse, events like this summit signal a future brimming with technological promise and economic growth.
