New Delhi erupted into a hub of technological innovation as the India AI Impact Summit 2026 commenced on Monday at Bharat Mandapam. Marking the first such event focused on the Global South, the summit has drawn top leaders from across the globe, all eager to shape the future of artificial intelligence.

India’s Vice President CP Radhakrishnan extended his warm felicitations via a post on X, highlighting India’s pioneering role in crafting a democratic AI future that prioritizes people. ‘The theme Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya perfectly encapsulates this vision,’ he noted, emphasizing public good, accessibility, and global collaboration at the heart of AI development.

Radhakrishnan underscored India’s ambition to bridge the technological prowess of the Global North with the scale and potential of the Global South. This synergy, he said, promises shared progress for humanity. Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi from last year’s Paris AI Action Summit, he reiterated that while machines may surpass human intelligence, the key to our collective future lies firmly in human hands. AI must remain human-centric and responsibly guided.

Prime Minister Modi echoed these sentiments in his own X post, welcoming global leaders, industry captains, innovators, policymakers, researchers, and tech enthusiasts. He described the summit as a platform uniting the world for meaningful AI discussions on innovation, responsible use, and beyond. ‘AI is transforming healthcare, education, agriculture, governance, and enterprises,’ Modi stated, pointing to India’s 1.4 billion population as a driving force in AI transformation.

From robust digital public infrastructure to a vibrant startup ecosystem and cutting-edge research, India’s AI advancements reflect both ambition and responsibility. Modi expressed confidence that the summit’s outcomes will forge a progressive, innovative, and opportunity-rich future. As deliberations unfold, the world watches how this landmark event sets new benchmarks for ethical AI deployment worldwide.
