New Delhi’s political arena heated up as Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unleashed a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, branding his rhetoric as a non-stop ‘lie factory.’ In a pointed post on X, Chouhan dismantled what he called Gandhi’s baseless claims about genetically modified crops and trade deals with the US.
Chouhan, a senior BJP figure and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, left no stone unturned in exposing what he termed as deliberate misinformation. ‘Another lie exposed,’ he declared, emphasizing that no permissions have been granted for GM products in any US deal. He accused Gandhi of spreading falsehoods on DDGS imports too, insisting the facts speak for themselves.
The minister didn’t stop there. He reminded Gandhi of Congress’s own track record on farmer welfare, spotlighting their failure to implement the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendation for 1.5 times cost as MSP. ‘You opposed it in Parliament, claiming it would distort markets,’ Chouhan fired back, contrasting it with the Modi government’s proactive MSP guarantees and massive procurement drives.
This verbal showdown underscores deepening rifts between the ruling BJP and opposition Congress ahead of key agricultural policy debates. Chouhan wrapped up by urging Gandhi to feel ashamed of his ‘negative politics,’ asserting that the nation now sees through Congress’s ‘anti-farmer’ stance, whether in power or opposition. As tensions simmer, farmers’ issues remain a flashpoint in Indian politics.
