Imphal’s Sainik School has earned accolades from Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh for its outstanding national achievements. During a visit on Sunday, the CM, accompanied by local MLA L. Susindro Meiti, toured the campus and held discussions with Principal Colonel A. Rajeev and senior officials.

The principal provided a comprehensive overview of the school’s operations, highlighting key challenges such as deteriorating infrastructure, inconsistent water supply, the need for stronger boundary walls, delays in constructing a girls’ hostel, and audio issues in the Vikram Batra Auditorium. Despite these hurdles, the school has shone brightly, with students excelling in competitive exams and participating in prestigious national events.

CM Singh assured swift action on these issues, emphasizing that students form the bedrock of society and deserve priority attention. He commended the administration for upholding high standards amid resource constraints and recognized the institution’s role in shaping disciplined, capable youth.

The visit included inspections of various facilities to assess maintenance needs and identify areas for upgrades. Interactions with alumni, staff, and students underscored the CM’s encouragement for academic and extracurricular excellence. A special mention went to student Memota Keisham, who interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the ninth edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, selected from nearly four crore participants nationwide.

Education Commissioner Ningthoujam Jeffrey and other officials were present, marking a committed step toward bolstering this vital educational hub in Manipur.
