Hyderabad’s top cop has issued a heartfelt call to Maoist leaders and cadres hiding in the shadows. Director General of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy echoed Chief Minister A. Revant Reddy’s earlier plea, urging underground CPI (Maoist) members to abandon violence and reintegrate into society through the state’s robust rehabilitation program.
In a strongly worded statement released on Sunday, the DGP highlighted the transformative impact of Telangana’s surrender and rehabilitation policy. Over the past two years, relentless police efforts combined with government initiatives have convinced 588 Maoists at various organizational levels to lay down arms and return to normal lives.
‘They have all availed benefits under the Telangana government’s policy,’ Reddy stated. ‘Today, they live safely and happily with their families in their villages.’ He emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to their long-term welfare and security.
The policy’s success has rippled beyond borders, inspiring Maoists from neighboring states to surrender before Telangana police and embrace peaceful reintegration. This underscores the credibility, empathy, and effectiveness of the state’s rehabilitation efforts.
Reddy extended a fresh appeal to all top underground Maoist leaders and cadres, including the remaining 15 in Telangana. ‘Come forward and embrace a peaceful future,’ he urged, assuring immediate assistance and benefits under the government’s framework for those willing to join the mainstream.
The state is fully committed to supporting their return, ensuring they live with freedom, dignity, and honor alongside their families in villages or towns. In changing times, Telangana Police firmly believes peaceful solutions are essential to address longstanding challenges.
‘ Recognize the changing circumstances, reunite with your families, and contribute positively to Telangana’s development and progress,’ the DGP implored, reiterating the government’s promise of a dignified return to normal life.
