Kathmandu’s political landscape is heating up as the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) unveiled its election manifesto, boldly calling for the restoration of Nepal’s monarchy and the declaration of a Hindu nation. Released on Saturday at the party’s central office, the document positions ‘Prithvi Path’—inspired by King Prithvi Narayan Shah’s divine counsels—as the guiding principle for national reconstruction.
Party President Rajendra Lingden emphasized scrapping secularism in favor of a Vedic Sanatan Dharma-based Hindu Rashtra. The manifesto also proposes dismantling the federal provincial structure, replacing it with a two-tier governance system of central and local levels. It prioritizes electoral reforms, zero tolerance for corruption, and good governance.
Aimed at the upcoming House of Representatives elections on March 5, the manifesto outlines six pillars of economic transformation to drive Nepal’s prosperity. Key promises include upgrading the East-West Mahendra Highway to international standards within three years and designating the next decade as the era of energy production.
RPP’s aggressive anti-corruption stance features the slogan ‘We will be crushed, but not corrupted.’ To enforce this, the party pledges legal mechanisms to investigate properties of major leaders and officials since 1990 and confiscate illegally acquired assets. It also commits to criminalizing caste discrimination, untouchability, and all forms of religious discrimination, ensuring respect for all religious communities while promoting equality and freedom.
The manifesto envisions political stability, efficient governance, economic reforms, and social justice as pathways to a prosperous Nepal, marking a significant challenge to the status quo in the Himalayan nation’s politics.
