Mumbai’s iconic Babulnath Temple, revered as the ‘King of Mumbai,’ witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri. After 25 years of construction, this sacred site has become a magnet for Bollywood celebrities seeking blessings from Lord Shiva.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and producer Ashok Pandit were spotted together offering prayers at the temple. In an exclusive interaction with IANS, Bhandarkar shared his profound experience, emphasizing the nationwide faith in Babulnath. ‘Coming here on Maha Shivratri is a moment of pure bliss,’ he said. ‘Despite the massive crowds, the devotion is palpable. I pray for everyone’s success and good health.’
Ashok Pandit, hailing from Kashmir, holds Maha Shivratri especially dear. ‘As Shiva devotees, Kashmiri Pandits feel a deep connection to this festival,’ he noted. ‘Visiting Babulnath fills me with energy and peace. I always pray for the protection of our nation, our soldiers, and their families.’
As anticipation builds for the high-stakes India-Pakistan cricket match, Bhandarkar exuded confidence. ‘On this holy day, India’s victory is certain,’ he declared. ‘The entire nation is praying for Team India to triumph over Pakistan.’
Pandit, however, expressed strong reservations about the match. ‘India shouldn’t be playing a nation that harbors terrorism,’ he asserted. ‘But since it’s happening, our young team will surely win. Lord Shiva will ensure our victory.’
The temple’s vibrant atmosphere underscored the blend of spirituality and national fervor, with devotees uniting in prayer for both personal and collective triumphs.
