In a dominant display at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, West Indies crushed Nepal by 9 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2026, securing their spot in the Super 8 stage with a third consecutive victory in Group C. Captain Shai Hope’s blistering unbeaten 61 off 44 balls, featuring 3 sixes and 5 fours, led the charge as the Caribbean side chased down 134 with ease in just 15.2 overs.

Nepal, electing to bat after losing the toss, crumbled under pressure, managing only 133 for 8. Early blows saw them at 2 for 1, then staggering to 73 for 6. A gritty 54-run stand for the seventh wicket between Dipendra Singh Airee (58 off 47) and Sompal Kami (26 not out off 15) provided some respectability, but it wasn’t enough against West Indies’ sharp bowling attack.

Jason Holder was the standout with 4 for 27, while Akeal Hosein, Matthew Forde, Shamar Joseph, and Roston Chase chipped in with one wicket each. In reply, Hope anchored the innings after Brandon King’s brisk 22 off 17. Shimron Hetmyer then unleashed 46 not out off 32, smashing 6 boundaries in an unbroken 91-run partnership for the second wicket that sealed a comprehensive win.

Nandan Yadav claimed the lone wicket for Nepal. This loss marks Nepal’s third straight defeat, eliminating them from title contention. West Indies next face Italy on February 19, while Nepal wraps up against Scotland on the 17th. The victory underscores West Indies’ resurgence, blending explosive batting with disciplined bowling to storm into the Super 8.
