In a fiery statement ahead of the high-stakes India-Pakistan showdown at the ICC World Cup, Vishwa Hindu Parishad national spokesperson Vinod Bansal has likened the match to an epic battle between cricket lovers and ‘sports traitors.’ Speaking from New Delhi, Bansal celebrated the confirmation of the game in Colombo, Sri Lanka, dismissing Pakistan’s earlier protests and threats as futile.

Bansal took to social media platform X, where he mocked Pakistan’s failed attempts to disrupt the tournament. ‘The Sharif bully managed to oust Bangladesh without even playing, but now Pakistan stands once again to face defeat against India,’ he posted. He framed the evening clash on Maha Shivratri as a symbolic war on Lanka’s soil, invoking Lord Ram’s triumph over Ravana. ‘Will we witness another Ram-Ravan battle between cricket enthusiasts and game saboteurs from our neighbor?’ he asked, urging Pakistan to apologize preemptively.

Recalling India’s dominant history, Bansal highlighted the unbeaten streak in World Cup encounters since 1992 in Sydney, barring a single 2021 Dubai loss. ‘The victory march reaches Colombo today,’ he declared, wishing Team India success. He praised Suryakumar Yadav’s aggressive form and predicted a resounding win to secure Super 8 qualification against a demoralized Pakistani side led by figures like Salman Agha.

The match drama unfolded after Bangladesh withdrew citing security fears, sparking PCB and Pakistani government rhetoric. Tensions eased when Pakistan agreed to play at the request of the Sri Lankan President. Both teams top Group A with two wins each; India leads on net run rate, Pakistan trails closely.

Cricket fans worldwide anticipate Sunday’s 7 PM IST start in Colombo. Bansal’s provocative words have ignited debates, blending religious fervor with sporting rivalry. As the two nations prepare, the outcome could reshape tournament dynamics and bilateral tensions.
