Mumbai’s bustling urban landscape took a tragic turn on Saturday when a pillar under construction for the Mulund Metro collapsed, claiming one life and injuring several others. The incident has ignited a firestorm of political rhetoric, with Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey leading the charge against what he calls a reckless ‘death game’ played in the name of development.
Speaking exclusively to reporters, Dubey expressed profound condolences to the victim’s family. ‘We fail to understand why lives are being gambled away under the guise of progress,’ he thundered. ‘Mumbai needs roads, flyovers, and metros, but they must be built responsibly, without corruption or shortcuts. Where is the contractor responsible for this bridge? Will they face justice, or will the government simply cover it up?’
Dubey’s outrage extended beyond the accident. He drew a sharp parallel to the contentious India-Pakistan cricket match, likening the BJP’s stance to Pakistan’s flip-flopping threats. ‘One moment they refuse to play, the next they do for money. Are we mere spectators dancing to their tune?’ he questioned.
Targeting BCCI secretary Jay Shah and ICC officials, Dubey declared unwavering opposition. ‘We love cricket, but not with Pakistan—a nation of terrorists that attacks our mothers and sisters. Our team is superior anyway; we’d win easily. Pakistan should stick to street cricket while chasing crores.’
As investigations unfold, Dubey’s words resonate with growing public anger over safety lapses in mega infrastructure projects. The demand for accountability grows louder, with calls for strict action against those who prioritize profits over lives. Mumbai’s development dream cannot come at such a deadly cost.
