JODHPUR: In a significant revelation, Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash has officially confirmed that renowned spiritual orator Sadhvi Prem Baisa passed away due to a cardiac arrest triggered by severe lung complications.

The detailed medical board report, meticulously reviewed by authorities, pinpointed cardiopulmonary arrest as the primary cause of death. This condition arose from acute respiratory distress linked to chronic lung ailments, including possible asthma or COPD.

Commissioner Prakash emphasized during a press briefing that forensic examinations revealed no traces of poison in her system. Equally, there were no indications of sexual assault or any external or internal injuries, dispelling earlier speculations that had gripped the community.

However, the investigation uncovered serious lapses by compounder Devi Singh, who administered injections without adhering to standard medical protocols. This negligence occurred on January 28 when Sadhvi Baisa’s health suddenly deteriorated at her Boranada ashram in Jodhpur’s Arti Nagar.

Witness accounts detail how she complained of cold and breathing difficulties. Shortly after receiving two injections from Devi Singh, her condition rapidly worsened. Family members rushed her to Preksha Hospital on Pal Road, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The body was initially taken back to the ashram by her father Veerm Nath, but police intervention led to its transfer to MGH mortuary for postmortem on January 29. The body was handed over to the family the same evening, and her last rites were performed on January 30 in Pariyu village, Barmer district.

FSL reports received on February 12, alongside histopathological analysis, corroborated the medical board’s findings. Organ samples sent for forensic testing on February 2 returned conclusive results after 11 days, confirming natural causes exacerbated by medical oversight.

A special investigation team meticulously gathered evidence across multiple levels, given the case’s sensitivity. Authorities have sought fresh opinions from the medical board on the effects of the administered drugs.

Legal action against the compounder is imminent under IPC provisions and the Rajasthan Medical Act, 1952, pending the final board report. This closure brings relief to devotees while underscoring the critical need for stringent medical compliance in spiritual retreats.
