Rajpal Yadav, beloved for his comic timing in countless films, is currently serving a sentence in Tihar Jail over a bounced cheque case. The troubles began when he borrowed 5 crores from a production company to fund his directorial venture ‘Ata Pata Lapata’. The film’s box office failure left him unable to repay, and with mounting interest and penalties, the debt ballooned to 9 crores. Despite multiple court opportunities to settle, Yadav found himself behind bars for six months.
Singh, speaking with genuine concern, said every artist in the fraternity feels the pain. ‘Rajpal has entertained us all for years, bringing laughter to millions. His fans must be heartbroken too. We all need to step up, each according to our means,’ she urged. She highlighted how contributions, big or small, could make a difference.
