New Delhi is stepping into a new era of digital justice with the launch of the ‘Digital Lok Adalat’ application by Delhi Traffic Police. In collaboration with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) and the National Informatics Centre (NIC), this innovative platform promises to streamline the resolution of traffic challans, making the process faster, transparent, and user-friendly.
The e-inauguration ceremony was graced by Justice V. Kameswar Rao of the Delhi High Court and the Executive Chairman of DSLSA, alongside senior Delhi Police officials. This digital initiative addresses long-standing grievances where citizens faced significant delays in receiving updates on their traffic notices settled through lok adalats.
Previously, manual processes led to bottlenecks, errors in data entry, and prolonged backlogs. The new app integrates real-time access to challan data, automated SMS notifications directly to vehicle owners, and seamless synchronization with virtual court systems. This eliminates redundant work, reduces human errors, and ensures updates reflect instantly across all platforms.
Court procedures have been simplified, with challan details popping up directly in the app, bypassing tedious paperwork. The system is already operational at the Special Lok Adalat, where a staggering 1,92,444 challans and notices have been downloaded for bulk resolution. Owners are promptly informed via SMS about the status.
Benefits are manifold: slashing pending challan backlogs, expediting resolutions for vehicle owners, minimizing manual interventions and errors, and boosting transparency in lok adalat operations. Delhi Traffic Police reaffirms its commitment to smart, tech-driven solutions that enhance road safety, improve service delivery, and provide convenient public services to citizens.
