Lucknow’s industrial development scene is accelerating with a major push from Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi. In a high-level meeting at PICKUP Bhawan on Saturday, the minister reviewed the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPIDA) projects, scrutinizing ongoing, under-construction, and proposed expressways.
Nandi issued firm directives to expedite the remaining work on the Ganga Expressway, Uttar Pradesh’s longest at 594 kilometers from Meerut to Prayagraj. Officials reported that the main carriageway construction is complete, with focus now shifting to safety enhancements before vehicular traffic begins.
Current fencing with iron wires along operational expressways has proven inadequate, as locals cut through them, allowing both people and animals onto the roads, heightening accident risks. To counter this, permanent boundary walls and metal beam crash barriers are being installed along 295 kilometers of the Ganga Expressway at a rapid pace. Once finished, the expressway will be inaugurated promptly.
The minister’s ambitious vision extends to new projects. He mandated foundation stones for the Vindhya Expressway, Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Expressway, Meerut-Haridwar Link, Chitrakoot-Rewa Link, and several others—including Chitrakoot Link, Lucknow Link (connecting Agra-Lucknow to Purvanchal Expressway), Farrukhabad Link (Ganga to Agra-Lucknow), Jewar Link (via Yamuna Expressway, Jewar Airport, Bulandshahr to Ganga), and Jhansi Link—by October 2026 without fail.
Emphasizing strict compliance with government orders, Nandi also addressed staffing issues at UPIDA. He ordered the repatriation of long-deputed officers to their parent departments, fresh deputations from other departments, and public advertisements for recruitment. Allotments of disputed land parcels must adhere to all conditions meticulously.
This comprehensive review signals Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to world-class infrastructure, poised to boost industrial growth, connectivity, and economic prosperity across the state.
