In today’s sedentary lifestyle, hours spent hunched over desks wreak havoc on our spine and muscles, paving the way for chronic pain and digestive woes. Yoga experts recommend Simple Dhanurasana, a beginner-friendly pose that mimics a bow shape to restore balance and vitality.

This accessible variation of the classic Dhanurasana, highlighted by India’s Ministry of AYUSH, targets the spine’s flexibility while massaging internal organs. Regular practice straightens slouched shoulders, alleviates backaches, and elevates energy levels. It’s particularly effective for improving digestion, reducing constipation, and easing stress by balancing thyroid and adrenal glands.

Yoga instructors emphasize that just a few minutes daily can infuse the body with suppleness and the mind with calm. To perform it, lie face down with forehead on the mat, legs extended. Bend your knees, grasp your ankles firmly, inhale deeply, and lift your chest and thighs off the ground, forming a gentle arch. Hold for 10-20 seconds, breathing steadily, then release slowly.

While transformative, precautions are key. Pregnant women, those with high blood pressure, hernia, recent surgeries, or severe neck/back issues should consult a professional first. Start gently, building intensity over time for optimal benefits without strain.
