Igor Tudor Takes Tottenham Hotspur Interim Coach Role

Tottenham Hotspur has turned to experienced Croatian coach Igor Tudor as their interim manager until the end of the season. The Premier League club made the move after sacking Thomas Frank earlier this week, desperate to escape a perilous position just five points above the relegation zone.

The north London outfit’s dismal form had fans and management on edge, prompting swift action to inject stability. At 47, Tudor returns to the dugout following a turbulent stint at Juventus that ended in October 2025 after an eight-match winless run left the Italian giants languishing in eighth place in Serie A.

Tudor’s coaching resume spans Europe, with notable spells at Lazio, Marseille, Galatasaray, and Udinese. His standout revival came in March 2024 when he replaced Maurizio Sarri at Lazio. Taking over a side in ninth, he guided them to five wins in nine games, securing seventh place and Europa League qualification, though he departed at season’s end.

A winner as a player with Juventus—two league titles and a 2003 Champions League final appearance—Tudor also shone internationally, helping Croatia to third place at the 1998 World Cup. His sole managerial trophy arrived in 2013 with Hajduk Split, lifting the Croatian Cup.

Spurs considered other short-term options like Borussia Dortmund’s ex-boss Edin Terzic and RB Leipzig’s former manager Marco Rose. Tudor steps in temporarily, but strong results could pave the way for permanence. Long-term targets include Mauricio Pochettino, whose USMNT contract runs to the World Cup, and Roberto De Zerbi, recently parted from Marseille by mutual consent.

As Tottenham battles for survival, Tudor’s tactical acumen will be tested in the high-stakes Premier League crucible.
