In a shocking revelation from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, authorities have busted a high-tech cheating racket during the SSC MTS online examination. Police swooped down on the Minerva Digital Exam Center in Govindpur police station limits, leading to the arrest of two candidates and one center staffer.
City SP Ritvik Srivastava addressed a press conference on Friday, detailing how the exams ran from February 4 to 12. On February 12, the center coordinator tipped off officials about candidates using technical gadgets to access answers. Govindpur police rushed to the scene and launched a probe.
Searches uncovered Bluetooth devices and spy earpieces on two candidates. Interrogation revealed the complicity of registration manager Shashi Kumar, who supplied the gadgets. Accomplices outside fed answers via Bluetooth in a premeditated plot.
The arrested candidates hail from Bihar’s Lakhisarai district – Raunak Kumar from Ramchandrapur and Bittu Kumar from Kochgaon. Shashi Kumar, from Daaympur Chak in Nalanda district, worked as the center’s registration manager.
Investigators found the cheating syndicate charged Rs 8 lakh per candidate, with Rs 2.5 lakh already collected upfront. Evidence from the accused’s phones included WhatsApp chats, admit cards, and transaction records. A case has been registered at Govindpur police station.
Police are now unraveling the full network, conducting raids to nab other culprits. Seized items include two Bluetooth devices, spy earpieces, and mobile phones. This bust underscores the growing menace of tech-enabled fraud in competitive exams, prompting calls for stricter vigilance.
