In a decisive crackdown against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police attached properties worth approximately ₹1.5 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Kulgam district on Friday. The operation targeted Mohammad Ashraf Khanday, a resident of Nipora under Kazi Gund police station limits.
The seized assets include six shops, five warehouses, one tin shed, and a platform, all located in Manigam village. Authorities confirmed that these properties were acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade, directly linked to Khanday’s criminal activities.
Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, police completed all legal formalities before the attachment. An FIR under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act had been registered against Khanday at the local police station. Investigations revealed the clear nexus between his drug smuggling operations and the illicit wealth.
SSP Kulgam, Iftikhar Ahmed Khan, emphasized the force’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics. ‘We are systematically dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers,’ he stated. ‘This action sends a strong message: crime doesn’t pay.’
The SSP warned that anyone involved in peddling, financing, harboring criminals, or supporting narcotics networks will face stringent legal action, including property attachments and rigorous prosecutions. He urged the public to collaborate with police to protect youth from drug menace.
This move is part of ongoing efforts to eradicate drug trade in the region, ensuring a safer future for Jammu and Kashmir’s younger generation. Police remain committed to upholding the law without exception.
