In a heartwarming display of solidarity, ASP Anuj Chaudhary, stationed in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, has stepped up to support veteran comedian Rajpal Yadav amid his ongoing financial turmoil. Rajpal, currently serving time in Tihar Jail over a bounced cheque case, faces a staggering debt of nearly 9 crore rupees. Chaudhary announced a personal contribution of 51,000 rupees from his salary account, sharing the gesture via a touching Facebook video.
Rajpal Yadav’s woes trace back to 2010 when he borrowed 5 crore from a production company to fund his directorial venture ‘Ata Pata Laapata.’ The film’s box-office flop led to unpaid loans, ballooning into 9 crore with interest and penalties. Despite court extensions, non-compliance resulted in a six-month sentence. He surrendered in February 2026 and remains incarcerated.
Chaudhary’s video message resonated deeply. ‘Artists like Rajpal have entertained us for years, bringing smiles during tough times,’ he said. ‘We can’t leave them alone in distress. I’m inspired by his comedy and spiritual insights. Life’s every second counts—don’t waste it.’ He emphasized that while 51,000 isn’t a fortune, it’s his way of contributing within his means.
This gesture joins a wave of support from Bollywood heavyweights. Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sonu Sood, and politician Tej Pratap Yadav have all rallied around. Sonu promised a film role with signing amount, while Tej Pratap donated 11 lakhs. Chaudhary’s initiative highlights how Rajpal’s legacy transcends screens, touching lives across professions.
As Rajpal navigates this ordeal, such acts remind us of gratitude towards those who’ve given us endless laughter. Will more voices join in? The film industry watches closely, hoping for his swift recovery.
