Noida emerged as the cleanest spot in the National Capital Region (NCR) on Tuesday, thanks to gusty winds that swept away pollutants over the past 24 hours. The brisk winds dispersed accumulated dust and harmful particles, pushing the Air Quality Index (AQI) into the moderate yellow zone across multiple areas.

Meteorologists predict further improvement with storms, rain, and high winds expected by February 17. In Noida’s Sector-62, AQI stood at a comfortable 130, the lowest in the region and firmly in the moderate category. Nearby, Sector-116 recorded 147, Sector-1 at 178, and Sector-125 at 183—all showing marked progress.

Comparatively, Ghaziabad lagged behind. Indirapuram’s AQI hovered at 202 and Vasundhara at 201, both in the poor orange zone. Sanjay Nagar fared better at 162, entering moderate levels due to the winds, though some pockets remain concerning.

Delhi’s monitoring stations also reported gains. Anand Vihar AQI was 229, Bawana 220, Alipur 212, and Ashok Vihar 201—all orange. However, Chandni Chowk (179), Burari Crossing (178), Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range (169), CRRI Mathura Road (156), Dwarka Sector-8 (190), and DTU (191) shifted to yellow, signaling relief.

The India Meteorological Department forecasts light mist from February 13-15, with maximum temperatures around 27-28°C and minimums at 11-13°C. A western disturbance on the 17th could bring rain and storms, potentially cleansing the air further. Experts say sustained winds and even light showers could elevate air quality significantly in coming days, offering hope amid winter pollution woes.
