New Delhi, February 13: In the rich traditions of Sanatan Dharma, Shani Pradosh holds immense spiritual significance. Observed on the Trayodashi tithi of both Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha every month, it gains extraordinary power when falling on a Saturday, earning the name Shani Pradosh. This year, February 14 marks this sacred convergence as Saturday aligns perfectly with Krishna Paksha Trayodashi.

The Trayodashi tithi commences after Dwadashi ends at 4:01 PM on Saturday, ushering in a golden window for devotees. This vrat uniquely blesses worshippers with the grace of both Lord Shiva and Shani Dev. Primarily dedicated to Shiva, Pradosh vrat is believed to fulfill all desires and dispel life’s sorrows when performed during the Pradosh Kaal with Shiva-Parvati puja.

Its importance multiplies on Saturdays since Shani Dev is revered as Shiva’s ardent devotee. Pleasing Shiva appeases Shani, shielding devotees from his wrath. Astrologers emphasize its benefits for those enduring Shani’s Sade Sati, Dhaiya, or other malefic influences. Keeping this vrat alleviates Saturn-related doshas, financial woes, delays, legal battles, mental stress, and health issues, while bestowing progeny, spousal longevity, health, stability, and prosperity.

Arriving just before Maha Shivratri, this observance adds profound layers of sanctity. Devotees should perform elaborate rituals: abhishek of Shivling with milk, curd, ghee, honey, and water during Pradosh Kaal. Offer belpatra, dhatura, and ak flowers to Shiva, and present itar and shringar items to Maa Parvati.

According to Drik Panchang, on February 14, Purvashadha Nakshatra prevails until 6:16 PM, followed by Uttaraashadha. Siddhi Yoga lasts until 3:18 AM on February 15. Moon transits Sagittarius. Sunrise at 7:00 AM, sunset at 6:10 PM.

Auspicious muhurats include Brahma Muhurat (5:18-6:09 AM), Abhijit Muhurat (12:13-12:58 PM), Amrit Kaal (1:03-2:47 PM), and Vijay Muhurat (2:27-3:12 PM). Avoid inauspicious periods: Rahu Kaal (9:48-11:12 AM), Yamaganda (1:59-3:23 PM), Gulikai (7:00-8:24 AM). Note these timings for maximum blessings on this pivotal day.
