In a decisive move to ensure uninterrupted electricity during the scorching Bihar summers, Energy Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh issued stringent directives on Thursday. Chairing a high-level review meeting with South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) and North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL), Singh emphasized completing all maintenance works without fail.
The meeting focused on the operational and maintenance readiness of transformers, feeders, and grid substations. Singh instructed officials to accelerate hot-line maintenance, swiftly resolve faulty lines, and strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). ‘No compromises on power supply this summer,’ he asserted, underscoring the need for 24-hour availability.
Safety took center stage as well. Singh mandated the compulsory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits while working on live lines and equipment. Any negligence would not be tolerated, he warned. Present at the meeting were SBPDCL MD Mahendra Kumar and NBPDCL MD Rahul Kumar, along with other senior executives.
As Bihar braces for peak summer demand, these proactive measures aim to prevent blackouts and load-shedding. Officials briefed the secretary on ongoing maintenance progress and upcoming challenges. With rising temperatures expected to spike consumption, the power sector is gearing up for a seamless supply chain. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to reliable energy access for every household.
