Mumbai’s bustling film scene often throws up serendipitous moments, and for actress Mrunal Thakur, one such twist of fate unfolded in the most unexpected place: an elevator. The rising Bollywood star, known for her compelling performances in films like Jersey and Sita Ramam, recently opened up about her first meeting with Ravi Udyawar, the director of her upcoming romantic drama ‘Do Diwane Shahar Mein’.

It all started in the lift of Udyawar’s new home. Thakur shared with a smile how her mother spotted the acclaimed filmmaker first. ‘My mom recognized him right away,’ she recounted. ‘She exclaimed, “Oh my God, I loved your film Mom!” while I stood there clueless about who he was.’

This casual encounter sparked something special. Thakur, a longtime admirer of Udyawar’s work, seized the moment. ‘I told him I’m a huge fan and would love to collaborate,’ she said. Udyawar responded warmly, promising to chat soon. Days later, a message from him arrived just as Thakur was heading to Dubai.

Time was short, but her excitement wasn’t. She listened to a snippet of the story over the phone and was hooked. Soon after, she headed straight to his office for the full script reading. ‘By the end, I was all in,’ Thakur revealed. ‘I said, “Let’s do this.” Shooting kicked off by April.’

‘ Do Diwane Shahar Mein’ pairs Thakur with Siddhant Chaturvedi in a tale of love set against urban backdrops. Backed by powerhouse producers Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Preena Singh, and Umesh Kumar Bansal under Ji Studios and Bhansali Productions, the film promises emotional depth and romance. Mark your calendars—it’s hitting theaters on February 20.

Thakur’s journey from that elevator chat to the big screen underscores the magic of genuine connections in Bollywood. Fans are eager to see her chemistry with Chaturvedi light up the screen.
