Mumbai is buzzing with anticipation as it prepares to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam expressed the city’s enthusiasm during an exclusive interview, hailing Modi as the embodiment of development.
‘Prime Minister Modi symbolizes progress across the nation, and Mumbai is no exception,’ Nirupam stated. He highlighted the upcoming launch of several new projects that will bring enhanced facilities to citizens. ‘We have full faith in the PM’s initiatives to transform the city,’ he added, noting the warm reception awaiting the leader.
Nirupam pointed to recent political shifts in Mumbai, where the Mahayuti alliance secured key positions like mayor and deputy mayor. ‘The city’s face is changing, with saffron-clad corporators taking oath in this new atmosphere,’ he said, crediting public trust in the alliance.
Shifting to cultural pride, Nirupam defended the government’s new guidelines promoting ‘Vande Mataram.’ ‘This is India’s song of glory, sung for 150 years even during British rule,’ he remarked. He criticized opposition parties like Congress for opposing it, accusing them of indulging in vote-bank politics and religious divisiveness. ‘Those who oppose Vande Mataram oppose India itself,’ Nirupam asserted firmly.
On the recent attack at a Physics Wallah coaching center in Nashik, Nirupam condemned the vandalism by MNS workers in the name of Marathi language pride. ‘MNS has lost elections repeatedly and now resorts to violence. No one has the right to take law into their hands,’ he said. Praising the institute for empowering Marathi students, he urged strict police action against the perpetrators.
Responding to Sanjay Raut’s comments on the Ajit Pawar plane crash, Nirupam dismissed conspiracy theories. ‘Ajit Pawar was a towering leader loved by many. Those shedding crocodile tears were his real opponents,’ he charged, calling for a thorough investigation while questioning the motives of critics.
As Mumbai readies for Modi’s visit, Nirupam’s words underscore a city embracing development, cultural heritage, and firm stance against violence and political opportunism.
