Ahmedabad, Feb 12: BJP leader Rohan Gupta unleashed a fierce critique against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disrespecting 1.4 billion Indians with his provocative statements in Parliament. ‘How dare he claim that Mother India has been sold? Can anyone even sell a nation?’ Gupta questioned in an exclusive interview.
Gupta highlighted a pattern of behavior from the opposition. ‘They first insult the country, then attack the media when questioned,’ he said. He pointed out that Gandhi, holding a constitutional position, dodges accountability by walking out instead of responding. This, Gupta argued, reflects the opposition’s desperation, protesting the nation itself rather than the government.
Recalling recent chaotic scenes in the Lok Sabha, Gupta mentioned Speaker Om Birla’s efforts to maintain order. ‘Women Congress MPs surrounded the PM’s chair, forcing Birla to intervene and prevent PM Modi’s entry,’ he noted. Gandhi’s disruption ruined the entire session, refusing even to discuss the President’s address. Such actions, Gupta asserted, amount to a direct affront to India’s sovereignty.
On the controversy over new guidelines mandating ‘Vande Mataram’ in government events, Gupta expressed shock at the politicization. ‘India is unique where even a national song faces opposition. Vande Mataram is our cultural heritage, beyond religion or caste. Nation comes first,’ he emphasized. With no substantive issues against the government, the opposition resorts to such tactics, which the nation will reject, Gupta concluded.
