New Delhi’s Blue Colts are set for a thrilling challenge at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2026 in Saudi Arabia. The final draw, conducted at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, placed India in Group D alongside defending champions Uzbekistan, powerhouse Australia, and twice-crowned winners DPR Korea.
The tournament, scheduled from May 5 to 22, promises high stakes. Top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals and secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026. India’s journey begins against Australia, followed by clashes with Uzbekistan and DPR Korea.
India earned their spot with a dominant qualifying campaign, overcoming Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, and Chinese Taipei for their 10th appearance. Uzbekistan enters as champions with direct entry, Australia bounced back from last year’s group stage exit by beating Jordan, Bhutan, and Philippines in qualifiers, while DPR Korea, semifinalists in 2025, also auto-qualified.
Group D stands out as fiercely competitive, testing India’s young talents against elite opposition. Other groups include: Group A (Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Myanmar); Group B (Japan, Indonesia, China PR, Qatar); Group C (Korea Republic, Yemen, Vietnam, UAE).
With World Cup spots on the line, India’s squad is gearing up for a standout performance on this continental stage.
