Patna’s civil court faced a major disruption on Thursday when it received a bomb threat, postponing the bail hearing of independent MP from Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav. The fiery politician, currently in judicial custody, was produced in court in the afternoon, but proceedings could not move forward due to security concerns.

This is the latest in a series of setbacks for Yadav’s legal team, who accuse authorities of deliberately stalling the process to keep him behind bars. The MP needs bail in two cases registered at Kotwali police station, while he has already secured relief in a 31-year-old case from Gardanibagh.

Court activities were halted in the morning following the threat to blow up the premises. Lawyers and staff were evacuated as security protocols kicked in. Pappu Yadav’s counsel, Shiv Nandan Bharti, slammed the incident as a ‘premeditated conspiracy,’ questioning the efficacy of Bihar Police’s cyber crime and economic offenses units in tracing the email senders via IP addresses.

Bharti highlighted Yadav’s deteriorating health due to prolonged delays, insisting that a fair and timely hearing would grant him relief. He pointed to previous bomb threat emails that had derailed hearings, suggesting targeted interference because of the MP’s prominence.

The drama intensified after a partially burnt body of a lawyer was found near Yadav’s Patna residence on Wednesday, further disrupting court schedules. Social media is abuzz with supporters claiming a pattern: three bomb threats in four days since Yadav was sent to Beur Jail.

All eyes are now on Friday, when Yadav’s lawyers plan to file a fresh bail petition. The outcome could determine his immediate future, amid growing speculation of political motives behind the legal hurdles. As tensions simmer in Bihar’s political circles, the court remains the battleground for justice.
