New Delhi is gearing up for a high-profile visit from Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who will arrive in India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The announcement came during a press briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), highlighting Lula’s participation in the prestigious AI Impact Summit 2026.
Scheduled for February 19-20, the summit will bring together global leaders to discuss artificial intelligence’s role in governance, innovation, and sustainable development. President Lula, accompanied by a strong business delegation, will engage in these discussions, underscoring the growing tech ties between India and Brazil.
On February 21, Lula is set to hold bilateral talks with Indian counterparts, including a key meeting with President Droupadi Murmu, the nation’s first citizen. Interactions with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and other senior officials are also on the agenda, promising deepened diplomatic and economic cooperation.
This visit coincides with another major diplomatic event: French President Emmanuel Macron’s three-day trip from February 17-19. Macron and PM Modi will focus on strengthening collaboration under the Horizon 2047 roadmap, covering defense, trade, and Indo-Pacific security. The leaders will jointly inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation in Mumbai, a year-long initiative extending through 2026.
Macron will also attend the AI Impact Summit on February 19 in New Delhi. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal revealed that more world leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and innovators are expected, making this a landmark gathering for AI’s future.
India’s strategic push in AI diplomacy positions it as a global hub, fostering partnerships that could shape technology’s ethical and sustainable evolution. As these visits unfold, they signal New Delhi’s rising influence in international forums.
