In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Punjab Police has dismantled a cross-border narcotics network operating from Amritsar. Two key operatives were apprehended during a targeted operation by the Chheharta police station, leading to the seizure of 7.63 kilograms of heroin valued at crores in the black market and Rs 21,800 in cash.
The arrests were made under the stringent NDPS Act, marking another victory in Punjab’s relentless war on drugs. Initial interrogations reveal that the suspects were in constant communication with a Dubai-based handler using virtual numbers. This mastermind orchestrated heroin consignments across the border, dictating pickup points and managing the supply chain with precision.
Investigators have linked the handler to multiple narcotics syndicates, including a previous massive haul of 43 kilograms of heroin. Punjab Police shared details of the bust on their official X handle, reaffirming their commitment to eradicating narco-terrorism and building a drug-free Punjab.
The operation is part of the ongoing ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, where daily raids have resulted in numerous arrests and substantial recoveries. Local residents have applauded the police action, noting its role in safeguarding the youth from the clutches of addiction.
Further questioning of the duo continues as teams scour for additional network members and upstream-downstream connections. Police have urged citizens to report any suspicious drug-related activities promptly. Legal proceedings will follow the completion of the probe, ensuring the syndicate faces the full force of the law.
