In a chilling incident from Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli district, two people were brutally killed over suspicions of black magic. The attack unfolded in Antarva village under Jayawan police station limits, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Chhatrapati Singh, frustrated by his inability to have children after marriage and his wife’s miscarriage, blamed his neighbors, Kajal Singh and Phoolmati, for casting spells on him. In a fit of rage, he grabbed an axe and launched a deadly assault on the duo, leaving them dead at the scene.

Two villagers who tried to intervene were also hacked, suffering serious injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, battling for their lives.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving reports and found several coconuts and the bloodied axe on a platform near the crime scene. The superstitious beliefs fueling this violence highlight deep-rooted issues in rural India.

After the murders, Chhatrapati barricaded himself inside a house. A tense standoff ensued as officers negotiated for hours before finally taking him into custody. Investigations are ongoing, but villagers confirm the accused had long harbored these witchcraft accusations against his neighbors.

This tragedy underscores the urgent need to combat superstition and promote education in remote areas to prevent such barbaric acts. Authorities have promised swift justice.
