Patna, February 11: JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad unleashed a sharp critique against the DMK, accusing the Tamil Nadu party of resorting to divisive statements in a bid to cling to relevance. Speaking on a range of national and state issues, Prasad labeled the recent remarks by a DMK minister as a desperate attempt to fragment the state for vote-bank gains.
Prasad asserted that DMK leaders are issuing statements aimed at polarizing society, a clear sign of their frustration and desperation. ‘They know their days in power are numbered,’ he declared, pointing to the rising alliance of AIADMK, BJP, PMK, and smaller parties emerging as a strong alternative in Tamil Nadu. The public, he claimed, has made up its mind against any DMK comeback.
Shifting focus to parliamentary proceedings, Prasad praised Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s decision to stay away from the chair until the no-confidence motion is resolved. He described it as upholding a ‘glorious parliamentary tradition,’ criticizing opposition attempts to politicize the move as a breach of decorum.
On Rahul Gandhi’s disruption in the House over an unpublished book, Prasad called it immature sensationalism. The Speaker rightly denied permission to speak on unverified excerpts criticizing the central government, he noted.
Addressing the Ajit Pawar plane crash, Prasad urged restraint, saying the DGCA investigation will reveal the truth. Speculation at this stage serves no purpose.
In West Bengal, he dismissed Humayun Kabir’s mosque construction announcement in Murshidabad as staged drama between TMC and the leader to divide communities. Bengal’s voters, he predicted, will reject TMC’s return.
Back in Bihar, Prasad condemned the opposition’s unruly behavior during the assembly budget session as irresponsible. Under CM Nitish Kumar, the state has seen unprecedented development, improved law and order, and declining crime rates over two decades.
Finally, on the Home Ministry’s guidelines for ‘Vande Mataram,’ Prasad highlighted its historic role in India’s freedom struggle. As the nation marks its 150th anniversary, standing in respect evokes the sacrifices of freedom fighters, he emphasized.
