In a tense development, the body of alleged terrorist Abdul Rahman, who was brutally killed in Haryana’s Faridabad jail, arrived in his native Majnai village under Inayatnagar police station in Ayodhya district on Tuesday. Heavy police deployment blanketed the village as family members prepared for his burial in the local cemetery.

Abdul Rahman’s father and relatives transported the body from Faridabad, marking an emotional journey back to the village. The arrival has stirred local sentiments amid heightened security measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

The shocking murder unfolded inside Neemka Jail in Faridabad district late Sunday night. Fellow inmate Arun Chaudhary, identified as a Kashmiri youth, allegedly stabbed Rahman in the head with a sharp object during a heated altercation near Barrack No. 3 around 2 a.m. Rahman succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Police spokesperson Yashpal Singh confirmed the details, noting that Chaudhary, previously held in a Jammu and Kashmir jail before being transferred to Faridabad’s high-security barrack, carried out the attack. Investigations into the motive and circumstances are underway, with authorities probing potential jail security lapses.

Rahman, arrested on March 2, 2025, near Pali village, was nabbed by the Special Task Force (STF) with two live hand grenades in possession. Intelligence suggested he was plotting a major blast in Ayodhya, with incriminating videos on his phone containing sensitive details about the Ram Temple. The grenades were defused immediately post-arrest.

This incident underscores ongoing vulnerabilities in high-security facilities housing terror suspects, raising questions about inmate interactions and surveillance protocols. As the village bids farewell, the event reverberates through Ayodhya’s security landscape.
