New Delhi, February 11. Pakistan’s cricket team has kicked off the T20 World Cup 2026 group stage with back-to-back victories over Netherlands and USA. Their next high-stakes encounter is set for February 15 in Colombo against arch-rivals India, a matchup that always carries extra weight.
Opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan, however, is brushing aside any talk of pressure. Speaking after the thrilling win over USA, Farhan emphasized the team’s rising confidence. ‘Winning two matches in a row boosts your belief,’ he said. ‘This isn’t our first time facing them. We’ve played before, but this time we’ll approach it with a fresh mindset.’
Farhan highlighted the improved form of key middle-order players Shadab and Nawaz, who have started contributing with the bat. ‘You’ve seen us battle in tough conditions before, but now things are clicking. Expect an exciting contest that fans will love,’ he added.
Recent India-Pakistan clashes have often been one-sided, with India dominating. Farhan countered this narrative by recalling the Asia Cup game where Pakistan fought till the end. ‘That wasn’t one-sided; we battled hard. We’re aiming to showcase top-class cricket this time.’
The opener’s own form has been pivotal. He smashed 47 off 31 balls against Netherlands and a match-winning 73 off 41 against USA, earning Player of the Match honors. ‘Scoring runs builds confidence, and after my last two innings, I’m in a great place,’ Farhan noted. ‘We’ll treat the India game like any other and play with a calm mind on Sunday.’
As Pakistan builds momentum, Farhan’s composed outlook could be the key to upsetting India in what promises to be a blockbuster showdown.
