Amaravati’s development agenda took center stage in New Delhi on Tuesday as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held crucial meetings with top Union ministers. In a bid to accelerate the state’s growth, Naidu first engaged with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, pressing for central support on funding and approvals for ongoing and upcoming projects.

The discussions highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s pressing needs, from infrastructure to economic initiatives. Naidu emphasized the importance of timely central assistance to keep momentum in the state’s ambitious plans. Taking to social media post-meeting, the Chief Minister shared that the talks focused on vital issues driving Andhra’s progress and prosperity.

Naidu’s itinerary didn’t stop there. He followed up with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, raising priorities for state development, central aid, and financial backing for key projects. As a key ally of the BJP-led NDA government through his Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Naidu’s outreach underscores the coalition’s collaborative spirit.

A significant highlight was the TDP’s meeting with Union Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy. Gratitude was expressed for the Centre’s role in reviving the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL). Naidu credited the turnaround to combined efforts: central funding, state government support, and the unwavering dedication of plant workers.

‘RINL is not just profitable again but operating at full capacity—a major milestone for this iconic public sector unit,’ Naidu stated. He urged continued central backing to ensure long-term stability and growth for the plant.

Wrapping up his Delhi visit, Naidu met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal, discussing Andhra’s Swachh Andhra initiative under the Swachh Bharat program. He detailed steps to strengthen waste management and transform the state into a zero-landfill zone.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, a detailed action plan under Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0, estimated at Rs 276 crore, targets zero landfill status for urban local bodies. Naidu requested Rs 105 crore from the Centre to implement this plan, showcasing Andhra’s commitment to sustainable urban development.

These engagements signal a proactive push for federal cooperation, positioning Andhra Pradesh for sustained growth amid national priorities.
