Beijing, February 10 – China’s BRICS Sherpa and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu participated in the inaugural BRICS Sherpa meeting held in New Delhi, marking a key step toward the 2026 agenda.
During the session, Ma Zhaoxu highlighted President Xi Jinping’s visionary proposal for ‘high-quality Greater BRICS cooperation.’ He elaborated on the ‘five-pillar BRICS cooperation framework’ emphasizing peace, innovation, green development, justice, and people-to-people exchanges, which charts the future course for the BRICS mechanism.
China stands ready to collaborate closely with host nation India and all BRICS members and partners, Ma affirmed. The priorities include upholding the correct stance, deepening practical cooperation, optimizing working mechanisms, strengthening multilateral coordination, safeguarding international fairness and justice, and advancing the sustained growth of Greater BRICS cooperation.
The meeting featured in-depth exchanges on BRICS cooperation priorities and key events for the year. It also formally launched the preparatory process for the 18th BRICS Summit, setting the stage for robust multilateral engagement.
