In a stern move to ensure smooth conduct of the 2026 Municipal Elections in Dhanbad, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan has issued show-cause notices to 239 personnel who failed to attend the mandatory first training session.
These employees had been officially assigned duties as polling staff for the upcoming polls. Appointment letters detailing their roles were dispatched well in advance, yet they remained absent from the scheduled training program. This lapse has raised serious concerns over their commitment to one of the most critical democratic processes.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that absenteeism in such vital training undermines not just personal responsibility but also constitutional obligations. ‘Election duties demand utmost diligence,’ he stated, highlighting the gravity of the negligence observed.
All 239 staffers have been directed to submit their explanations to the Personnel Cell within 24 hours. Failure to comply could lead to further disciplinary action, underscoring the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards lapses in electoral preparedness.
This development comes as authorities gear up for the municipal elections, with intensive training drives underway to equip staff with necessary skills. The incident serves as a wake-up call, ensuring no stone is left unturned in readying the workforce for fair and transparent voting.
