Lucknow erupted in political drama on Monday as Uttar Pradesh’s budget session kicked off with chaos. Governor Anandiben Patel was delivering her address when opposition Samajwadi Party MLAs unleashed a barrage of slogans and uproar, drowning out her speech.
Energy Minister AK Sharma didn’t hold back, blasting the opposition’s ‘unacceptable behavior.’ ‘They refused to let the Governor speak, yet she persevered and completed her address. I thank her for that,’ Sharma said. He accused the opposition of disrespecting a woman in power, claiming the entire nation condemns such antics.
Sharma highlighted how the opposition resorts to disruption when lacking substantive issues. ‘They derail proceedings, ignoring public problems,’ he remarked. Under BJP rule, he asserted, citizens are finally receiving long-denied facilities, thanks to coordinated efforts between state and central governments.
The minister defended BJP’s reverence for historical figures like Ahilyabai Holkar, noting her statue installation at Kashi Vishwanath Temple and institutions named in her honor. ‘This shows our respect, unlike the opposition’s deliberate misinformation campaigns,’ he charged.
Sharma concluded that the opposition’s frustration stems from witnessing unprecedented development in UP. ‘They ignored public woes during their tenure; now, blinded by progress, they create noise instead of addressing real issues.’ The session’s turbulence underscores deepening political divides as key legislative business looms.
