In a landmark achievement for public healthcare, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated cutting-edge medical facilities at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital on Monday. The highlight was the unveiling of a state-of-the-art 256-slice spectral CT scanner, marking the first of its kind in North India within a government hospital. Accompanying it were a new neuro cath lab and a revamped 16-bed neuro ICU with an advanced operation theater complex.

These upgrades promise to transform diagnostics and treatment for critical conditions like cancer, heart diseases, strokes, and neurological disorders. The CT scanner, equipped with always-on spectral imaging, delivers ultra-precise scans in seconds while minimizing radiation exposure, offering life-saving accuracy for patients across Delhi and neighboring states.

CM Gupta emphasized that this initiative aligns with the vision of making Delhi a global health hub under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. ‘Our government is committed to elevating public hospitals to world-class standards, ensuring no citizen needs to rely on expensive private care,’ she stated during the event attended by Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh and other dignitaries.

The neuro cath lab, featuring Philips’ advanced angiographic monoplane system, will enable swift interventions for neurovascular emergencies such as aneurysms and brain tumors. Priced at around 9 crore rupees, it is expected to benefit over 1,200 patients annually, drastically reducing mortality and disability risks.

The upgraded neuro ICU, built at a cost of 2 crore rupees, provides 24/7 intensive monitoring with specialized staff and equipment. This comprehensive facility ensures seamless post-operative care for the most vulnerable patients.

Health Minister Dr. Singh hailed the developments as a ‘game-changer’ for Delhi’s public health system. ‘Gone are the days of long waits for neuro diagnostics and treatments. These facilities will deliver timely, high-quality care right here in our government hospitals,’ he affirmed.

With an investment of nearly 20 crore rupees in the CT scanner alone, Delhi is setting new benchmarks in accessible healthcare. This move not only bolsters local infrastructure but also positions the capital as a beacon for medical excellence in the region.
